Your exciting motorbiking adventure in Bhutan begins with a journey from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri. Your tour starts with your arrival in the "City of Joy," Kolkata. You'll likely arrive via an international flight in the late evening. After you arrive in Kolkata, you will make your way to the Darjeeling Mail Railway Station. The station is located in Sealdah, and your journey there should take some time depending on your starting point in Kolkata. Board the Darjeeling Mail train, which departs at 1915 hours. This overnight train journey will take you to New Jalpaiguri. Enjoy the comfortable and scenic train ride as you make your way to New Jalpaiguri. You'll have the opportunity to rest and prepare for the upcoming motorbiking adventure in Bhutan. You are expected to arrive at New Jalpaiguri by 0810 hours. New Jalpaiguri is a major transportation hub in the region and a gateway to the Indian states of West Bengal and Sikkim.

Your motorbiking adventure continues as you journey from Kolkata to Phuentsholing, the bustling border town in Bhutan. After your overnight train journey, you will arrive at New Jalpaiguri by 0810 hours. Upon arrival at the station, drive to Siliguri, one of the busiest cities in West Bengal, where you will stop for breakfast and relaxation. After breakfast and some relaxation time in Siliguri, continue your journey towards Phuentsholing. This is where your Bhutan motorcycling adventure truly begins. Along the way, you will pass through scenic tea estates, witnessing the hardworking tea garden collectors. As you arrive in Phuentsholing, you'll experience a unique blend of Indian and Bhutanese cultures. This bustling commercial border hub sits at the base of the Himalayan foothills. You will spend the night in Phuentsholing, preparing for the exciting days ahead as you delve deeper into Bhutan on your motorcycle safari.

Start your day early, and after breakfast, prepare to embark on your motorbike journey from Phuentsholing to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan. As you ride towards Thimphu, you'll have the privilege of travelling through the Inner-Himalayan region. This route offers breathtaking views of the mountains, cool and fresh mountain air, and lush vegetation. Upon reaching Thimphu, you'll arrive in the heart of Bhutan – the center of government, religion, and commerce. After checking into one of the best hotels in Thimphu, take some time to relax and freshen up. Then, you can explore the city. You may visit local markets, take in the city's sights, and immerse yourself in Bhutanese culture. Spend the night at your hotel in Thimphu. Your motorbike adventure in Bhutan continues with a half-day of sightseeing in Thimphu, followed by a scenic ride to Punakha. Begin your day with a half-day of sightseeing in Thimphu. Explore the modernity and traditional aspects of Bhutanese culture in the capital city. You can visit key attractions such as the Tashichho Dzong, National Memorial Chorten, Buddha Dordenma Statue, and the Folk Heritage Museum. After your morning sightseeing in Thimphu, it's time to continue your motorcycle journey. Later, we will head towards Punakha, which is known for its sparsely populated areas and traditional way of life. Upon reaching Punakha, you'll have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the serene beauty of the region. Punakha is known for its stunning Punakha Dzong, which is one of Bhutan's most iconic architectural landmarks. Check-in at your hotel in Punakha, where you will spend the night. On Day 5 of your Bhutan motorbiking adventure, you'll embark on an exciting journey from Punakha to Trongsa and back. This day promises spectacular views of nature, historic Dzongs, and an exploration of central Bhutan. Begin your day with an early departure from Punakha. Make sure you have a hearty breakfast to fuel your ride. Your destination for the day is Trongsa, which is located at an impressive elevation of 7,600 feet above sea level. The ride will take you through winding roads with breathtaking views of nature and lush vegetation. En route, you will come across magnificent Dzongs (fortresses), including the iconic Trongsa Dzong. Upon arrival in Trongsa, take the time to explore the historic Trongsa Dzong. This fortress was built in 1648 and served as the seat of power over central and eastern Bhutan. After you explore Trongsa, it's time to head back to Punakha. You'll retrace your route, providing you with another opportunity to enjoy the picturesque landscapes and serene atmosphere of Bhutan's countryside. Start your day with a ride from Punakha to Paro, passing through the capital city of Bhutan, Thimphu. This ride will take you through some of Bhutan's most scenic and culturally significant areas. En route, make a stop at Dochula Pass, which is located at an altitude of 3,088 meters. The pass is famous for its stunning views of the Himalayan mountain range. If the skies are clear, you'll have the opportunity to witness the majestic peaks, including Jomolhari (7,158 m), Gangkar Puensum (7,497 m), and many others. Depending on your schedule and interests, you can choose to make a brief stop in Thimphu to explore any attractions you may have missed on Day 4. Paro is known for its rich cultural heritage, ancient temples, and monasteries. It's also home to Bhutan's only international airport and the National Museum. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore some of Paro's attractions, such as Paro Dzong, and Kyichu Lhakhang, or simply stroll through the charming town. Spend the night at a top-class hotel in Paro, where you can relax and enjoy the comfort of your accommodations.

On the last day of your Bhutan motorbiking adventure, you'll ride from Paro to Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary, crossing through Phuentsholing and exploring a wildlife sanctuary. Begin your day with an early departure from Paro, marking the final leg of your motorbiking journey in Bhutan. Follow the National Highway as you ride from Paro towards Phuentsholing, heading northwest. Depending on your schedule and interests, you can choose to make a brief stop in Phuentsholing. Continue your ride towards Jaldapara Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary is known for its diverse flora and fauna, and it's a great place for wildlife enthusiasts. To wrap up your motorbiking adventure, spend the night at a Forest Lodge in Jaldapara. These lodges are often located in serene natural settings, allowing you to relax and soak in the peaceful ambiance.

Begin your ride towards Changu Lake, a high-altitude glacial lake located approximately 40 kilometres from Gangtok. The journey takes you through scenic mountain roads, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscapes. Arrive at Changu Lake, one of Sikkim's most iconic and picturesque destinations. This stunning alpine lake is surrounded by steep mountains and is known for its clear blue waters. While at Changu Lake, you can engage in optional activities such as riding on a yak or visiting the nearby Baba Mandir, dedicated to the Indian Army soldier Baba Harbhajan Singh. After exploring Changu Lake and its surroundings, return to Gangtok for your overnight stay.

Start your day by departing from Gangtok, leaving behind the serene beauty of the city. Your first stop for the day is Rumtek, located approximately 24 kilometres away from Gangtok. Rumtek is home to the Rumtek Monastery, also known as Rumtek Dharma Chakra Centre. This monastery serves as the training center of the Kagyu School of Tibetan Buddhism. It was founded in 1962 by the 16th Gyalwa Karmapa, Rangjung Rigpe Dorje. Explore the monastery and its beautiful surroundings. After your visit to Rumtek, continue your ride towards Pemayangtse. En route, you'll have the opportunity to visit the Tashiding Monastery. Arrive in Pemayangtse, a charming town in Sikkim. Pemayangtse is famous for its Pemayangtse Monastery, one of the oldest and most important monasteries in Sikkim. Spend the night at a hotel in Pemayangtse, where you can relax and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of this serene town.

This area is famous for producing some of the finest teas in the world. Depending on your schedule and interests, you may choose to make a brief stop in Darjeeling. Known for its colonial charm, stunning vistas, and the iconic Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, Darjeeling is a popular hill station. After your stop in Darjeeling (if you choose to do so), continue your ride towards Kurseong. This small and elegant town is nestled amidst the grandeur and beauty of the towering Kanchenjunga Mountains. Arrive in Kurseong and check in at your hotel. Spend the night in this charming town, taking in the mountainous surroundings and enjoying the serene ambiance.

Start your day by leaving your current location and riding towards the beautiful town of Darjeeling. Enjoy the scenic ride through the hills and picturesque landscapes. Once you arrive in Darjeeling, spend the day exploring the town and its attractions. You can visit places like the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park, and the Peace Pagoda, or take a stroll along the Mall Road to enjoy local cuisine and shop for souvenirs. After exploring Darjeeling, make your way to the Kaunchunga viewpoint. From this viewpoint, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the Kanchenjunga mountain range and the surrounding Himalayan peaks. Next, head to Tiger Hill, a famous sunrise viewpoint in Darjeeling. Depending on the time of day, you can either enjoy the sunset or prepare for an early morning visit to witness the sunrise over the mountains. Tiger Hill is known for its stunning fabulous sunrise views. After visiting Tiger Hill, start your descent back to Siliguri. This should give you ample time to prepare for your train journey. You will spend the night on the train as it takes you to Kolkata. The train is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata at 0845 hours the very next day.

Your train is scheduled to arrive in Kolkata at 0845 hours in the morning. Disembark from the train and make your way to the hotel where you will be staying. After reaching Kolkata, check into your hotel. Freshen up, relax, and get ready for a day of sightseeing. Spend the day exploring the vibrant and historic city of Kolkata. Some must-visit places and monuments in Kolkata include:

Victoria Memorial: Explore this iconic marble structure and its lush gardens.

Howrah Bridge: Take a walk or drive over this famous cantilever bridge that spans the Hooghly River.

Indian Museum: Visit one of the oldest museums in India and explore its vast collection.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple: Pay a visit to this beautiful temple dedicated to Goddess Kali, located on the banks of the Hooghly River.

Belur Math: If time permits, you can also visit Belur Math, the headquarters of the Ramakrishna Mission, which is known for its serene ambiance.

Park Street: In the evening, you might want to explore Park Street, known for its vibrant nightlife and a wide variety of restaurants and pubs. After a long day of sightseeing, enjoy a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

Check out from your hotel in Kolkata after breakfast. Start your journey towards Basanti, which is located approximately 100 kilometres from Kolkata. The drive will take around 3 hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. Enjoy the scenic drive as you make your way to Basanti. Upon reaching Basanti, you will board a boat to travel to Sajnekhali. Sajnekhali is part of the Sundarbans, a UNESCO World Heritage Site famous for its mangrove forests and diverse wildlife, including the Bengal tiger. The boat ride through the winding waterways of the Sundarbans is a unique and memorable experience. Once you reach Sajnekhali, check in at the Sajnekhali Tourist Lodge. This lodge provides comfortable accommodation amidst the natural beauty of the Sundarbans. After checking in and freshening up, you can explore the surroundings. Visit the Sajnekhali Wildlife Sanctuary and Interpretation Center to learn more about the flora and fauna of the Sundarbans. Have dinner at the tourist lodge or a nearby restaurant.
