The journey begins with a drive to Satsam Chorten, where an enchanting hike to the Taktshang, famously known as the Tiger's Nest, awaits. This magical monastery seems to defy gravity as it clings to a sheer granite cliff, perched some 3,000 feet above the valley floor. Although the monastery suffered a devastating fire in 1998, it has been meticulously reconstructed. Taktshang is one of Bhutan's holiest sites, and every Bhutanese believes in the profound importance of visiting it at least once in their lifetime.

If time allows, you can continue your exploration with a drive to the Chelila Pass. Here, you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of both the Haa and Paro valleys, along with a spectacular panorama of the surrounding mountain ranges.

The journey commences with a picturesque drive through Dochula Pass, where travelers are treated to one of Bhutan's most enchanting vistas. On clear days, the Himalayan ranges reveal themselves in all their glory, and the distant Gasa Dzong can be seen. The road continues through varying scenes of lush greenery as it winds its way to Punakha.

Punakha Dzong, a magnificent fortress, is strategically located at the confluence of the Phochu (Male River) and Mochu (Female River). It's one of the country's most spectacular dzongs. Currently, it serves as the winter residence for Je Khenpo, the Chief Abbot of the Central Monastic Body, although visitors can explore it when the monastic body has moved to Thimphu.

While in Punakha, you can also visit the Crown Prince's Monastery and Chimey Lhakhang, the "Temple of the Divine Mad Man," renowned for its association with fertility.

Exploring Bhutan further, the journey continues with a visit to Wangdue Dzong, where you can stroll around the charming little town.

Afterward, you'll drive back to Thimphu, Bhutan's capital, to delve into its cultural treasures. Thimphu offers a visit to the School of Thanka Painting, where the intricate and revered Bhutanese art form is taught and practiced. The National Library holds a vast collection of ancient Buddhist manuscripts, providing a glimpse into the country's spiritual heritage.

At the Institute of Traditional Medicine, you'll discover the continuation of centuries-old healing arts, and a stroll through Thimphu town allows you to soak in the vibrant atmosphere of Bhutan's capital. This day promises an enriching cultural experience.

Visit Sangay Gang where you can get a spectacular view of the whole Thimphu valley. Then visit Zelukha Nunnery. After lunch, drive to Paro.
