Today’s trekking stage may be brief, but we are maintaining a deliberate and consistent pace due to the significant elevation gain. Following breakfast, you will be transported to the starting point of the trek at the National Museum (2487m) above Paro. Our journey will take us uphill from the Museum, passing through apple orchards, the smallholdings of Damchena village, and pine forests. Here, we will visit Jele Dzong (3490m), situated on a prominent ridge. Although mostly in ruins, Jele Dzong is home to a Lhakhang housing a statue of Buddha Sakyamuni. On clear days, the panoramic views of Paro town below and Mount Jumolhari (7315m) are truly awe-inspiring. We will spend the night at our campsite located at 3480m.

Commence the journey with a gradual ascent, then descend below the ridgeline to traverse through a trail flanked by dense alpine forests and rhododendrons. It is possible to encounter yak herders in this vicinity. The panoramic vistas of Jumolhari and other snowcapped peaks are captivating, while the daytime ambience resonates with the calls of monal pheasants. Our ascent continues until we reach the yak herders’ pasture at Jangchulakha (3780m), which affords outstanding views of the Himalayan range. We established our camp in a yak pasture nestled near the hillside.

Following a climb and a steep descent, we reach Jimilangtsho Lake (3880m), renowned for its enormous trout. In the vicinity of the camp, there are magnificent views of the 6989m Jichu Drake, the peak symbolizing the protective deity of Paro. Overnight camping is situated near Jimilangtsho Lake.
