Upon your arrival at Paro Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative from Journey DMC who will assist you with the necessary arrival formalities. Paro is the gateway to Bhutan and offers a picturesque introduction to the country with its stunning landscapes and serene atmosphere.

After completing the arrival formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel in Paro. Take this time to relax and unwind from your journey and get settled into your accommodation. Paro is a charming town located in a beautiful valley and is known for its rich history, culture, and natural beauty. You can explore the town in the evening, maybe take a stroll, and enjoy the local cuisine at one of the restaurants in the area.

The drive from Paro to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan, is a scenic and relatively short journey. The distance between Paro and Thimphu is approximately 55 kilometres, and the drive typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on road conditions.

The route takes you through picturesque landscapes, passing through valleys and alongside rivers. The journey includes winding mountain roads and offers beautiful views of the Himalayan foothills. You'll likely encounter traditional Bhutanese architecture, and prayer flags, and possibly even catch glimpses of monasteries along the way.

It's important to note that road conditions and travel times can be influenced by various factors, so it's advisable to check with local sources or your travel guide for the latest information before embarking on the journey.

The drive from Thimphu to Punakha in Bhutan is approximately 72 kilometres and usually takes around 2 to 3 hours, depending on road conditions. The journey takes you through mountainous terrain, offering scenic views of valleys, rivers, and traditional Bhutanese villages.

The route passes through the Dochula Pass, which is known for its panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain range, including majestic peaks like Gangkhar Puensum. After descending from the pass, the road continues through picturesque landscapes until you reach Punakha.

Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan, is famous for its historic Punakha Dzong, situated at the confluence of the Pho Chhu and Mo Chhu rivers. The dzong is a significant cultural and religious site, and the surrounding valley is known for its fertile fields and pleasant climate.

Embarking on a picturesque journey after breakfast, the 105 km drive from your starting point to Gangtey via Wangduephodrang is a four-hour expedition. The road gradually ascends to Lawala Pass (1100 feet), offering enchanting views along the way. Passing through Nobding village, the landscape transforms with high-altitude dwarf bamboo, blooming rhododendrons, and a variety of trees like magnolia, fir, and pine.

As you approach Phobjikha valley at 3,000m in the Black Mountain Ranges, the scenery becomes even more captivating. Phobjikha is renowned for its stunning beauty and serves as the winter home to the rare black-necked crane, migrating from Tibet between October and March.

Your visit includes exploring Gangtey Gompa, an ancient Nyingmapa monastery resembling a small Dzong. This stop allows you to immerse yourself in Bhutanese culture and witness the timeless beauty of the Gangtey and Phobjikha valleys.

Overnight at Simple Lodge. [B/L/D]

Embarking on a moderate trail, your journey winds through meadows and fields, creating a serene path. The trail gradually ascends through a mixed forest of juniper, bamboo, magnolia, and rhododendron, offering a diverse and scenic backdrop to your trek. As you ascend higher, the natural surroundings transform, providing a rich tapestry of flora.

This trail leads you to the Tselela pass, unveiling panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes. The trek also takes you to the village of Gogona, where a unique cultural experience awaits. The people of Gogona speak Bjopkha, a language known as the language of the nomads. The isolated valley of Gogona has preserved its traditions, culture, and language, offering a glimpse into a way of life that has endured the test of time.

Overnight at Camping. [B/L/D]

Ascending gently, the trail leads to the Shobjula pass, standing at an altitude of 11,155 feet. As you reach this vantage point, panoramic vistas unfold, showcasing the surrounding mountains and the expansive sky. The descent from Shobjula pass guides you into a wide valley, characterized by its open and spacious landscape. The breathtaking views of mountains that encircle the valley create a sense of awe, offering trekkers a serene and immersive experience amid Bhutan's natural beauty. This part of the trek invites contemplation and appreciation of the vastness and grandeur of the mountainous terrain.

Overnight at Camping. [B/L/D]

Ascending briefly, the trail takes you to the Tashila Pass at an altitude of 9,200 feet. It's advisable to replenish your water supply shortly after crossing the pass, as the descent that follows is devoid of water sources. The trail then guides you through evergreen vegetation as you descend into the drainage of the Dangchu.

Eventually, the trek leads to the motorable road at Chunzom. At Chunzom, a waiting vehicle will pick you up, marking the end of your trekking adventure. The journey then continues by road towards Paro, providing a comfortable and convenient mode of transportation after the trek.

The drive from Thimphu to Paro in Bhutan is approximately 55 kilometres and usually takes around 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on road conditions. The journey offers stunning views of Bhutan's landscapes and is known for its scenic beauty.

Starting from Thimphu, the capital city, you'll likely head westward on the winding mountain roads. The route takes you through picturesque valleys, traditional villages, and lush greenery. Along the way, you might catch sight of the Paro River and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

The road conditions are generally good, but weather conditions can affect travel times, especially during monsoon or winter seasons. Always check for the latest information on road conditions and weather before embarking on the journey.

The last day morning will be free and near the time of your flight. You will be at the airport within the time to board your flight for the onward trip.
