Upon your arrival at Paro Airport, you will be warmly welcomed by our representative from Journey DMC who will assist you with the necessary arrival formalities. Paro is the gateway to Bhutan and offers a picturesque introduction to the country with its stunning landscapes and serene atmosphere.

After completing the arrival formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel in Paro. Take this time to relax and unwind from your journey and get settled into your accommodation. Paro is a charming town located in a beautiful valley and is known for its rich history, culture, and natural beauty. You can explore the town in the evening, maybe take a stroll, and enjoy the local cuisine at one of the restaurants in the area.

The drive from Paro to Wangdichholing Palace, located in Bumthang, Bhutan, offers a scenic journey through the country's picturesque landscapes. Travelling eastward, you'll navigate winding mountain roads, pass traditional Bhutanese villages, and witness the beauty of lush valleys. The journey provides glimpses of Bhutan's unique architecture, with dzongs and monasteries dotting the route. Upon reaching Wangdichholing Palace, a historic royal residence, you'll encounter Bhutan's rich cultural heritage amid the tranquil surroundings of Bumthang. The drive combines adventure with cultural exploration, making it a memorable experience.

Overnight at Camping. [B/L/D]

Embarking on the trek from Wangdichholing Palace (2600m) in Bumthang, the path unfolds with a gradual ascent toward Jakar Dzong, offering cultural detours to explore the historical Wangdichholing Palace and Jakar Dzong. The journey continues to Kikila pass (3948m) with a captivating four-and-a-half-hour trek, leading to the royal family's traditional lunch spot, Seou Zheysa.

A further three-hour descent from Kikila brings you to the picturesque campsite of Makhagthang (2908m) nestled along the banks of Duegang Chhu. This serene location, merely half a kilometre from Domkhar Tashichholing Palace, promises a tranquil overnight stay amid Bhutan's enchanting landscapes.

Overnight at Camping. [B/L/D]

 

The hike commences with a crossing of the Duegang Chhu, followed by a predominantly uphill trail. Approximately three and a half hours of ascent lead to Dungmai Jab at an altitude of 3678m, serving as the lunch spot. Continuing the journey, a two-hour uphill trek from the lunch spot brings you to Jamsapang, situated at an elevation of 4019m. The campsite, Tungli La (pass), is just a short distance away, promising a rewarding end to the day's adventure.

Overnight at Camping. [B/L/D]

The day starts with a gentle one-hour ascent towards Tungli La (4039m). At this elevation, the mesmerizing panorama unfolds, showcasing the snow-capped Black Mountains nestled between Bhutan’s southern foothills on the left and the majestic Greater Himalayan range on the right.

Descending gradually from Tungli La, the trail offers a picturesque journey lasting about two hours, leading to the designated lunch spot. Continuing for an additional two hours brings you to the third campsite, Bjobshisa—a tranquil locale utilized by local cattle herders during the summer and monsoon seasons. The day's trek promises a blend of natural splendour and cultural immersion.

Overnight at Camping. [B/L/D]

The descent from Bjobshisa to Kuenga Rabten Palace unfolds over approximately four hours. This historical palace served as the winter residence for the Second King and his junior consort, situated at an elevation of 1,774m. Nestled at the back of the palace, there's an ideal camping ground offering panoramic views of the valley and the meandering Mangdue River. The journey combines a historical glimpse with serene natural surroundings, culminating in a picturesque camping site.

The drive from Kuenga Rabten Palace to Paro in Bhutan offers a scenic journey through the country's diverse landscapes. Descending from the palace, you'll traverse lush valleys, meandering rivers, and picturesque villages. The road provides glimpses of Bhutanese culture, with dzongs and monasteries dotting the route. As you approach Paro, the iconic Paro Taktsang (Tiger's Nest) Monastery comes into view, perched on a cliffside. The journey captures the essence of Bhutan's natural beauty and cultural richness, making for a memorable drive.

The last day morning will be free and near the time of your flight. You will be at the airport within the time to board your flight for the onward trip.
